Nishedh

Overview

NISHEDH (/nishedha/ — denial) is a fashion film that explores the internal world of a young woman navigating the complexities of Bipolar Disorder. Told through four emotional stages - mania, depression, anxiety, and judgement the film uses fashion, sound, and visual language to externalize her psychological experience.

Challenge

Mental health is frequently misunderstood or dismissed in Indian society, especially when it comes to nuanced conditions like Bipolar Disorder. Traditional media rarely portrays these realities with empathy or creative depth. This project aimed to address that gap — without falling into clichés or overt dramatization.

Response

NISHEDH approaches mental health through an artistic lens, using fashion and movement to embody the protagonist's shifting states of mind. The film balances emotional honesty with striking visuals, offering both representation and reflection.
